CP Time: The People Quietly Making Daytona & Volusia County Better

Some people don't need another award.
They need more people to know their name.
That's one of the ideas behind CP Time.
CP Time is a segment of my Das It platform where I highlight people doing meaningful things throughout Daytona Beach and the surrounding Volusia County community.
People who are building.
Serving.
Creating.
Leading.
Organizing.
Mentoring.
Connecting.
And sometimes doing all of it without much attention.
Every Community Has People You Should Know
You've probably experienced this.
Someone mentions a name and says:
“You don't know her? You HAVE to meet her.”
Then you finally learn what that person has been doing and think:
How did I not know about this?
That's the person I'm looking for.
Not necessarily the person with the largest following.
Not necessarily the person with the biggest title.
The person whose impact is bigger than their visibility.
CP Time exists to help close that gap.
Why Local Recognition Matters
We spend a lot of time celebrating people once everybody already knows them.
But what if we got better at recognizing people while they're still doing the work?
The organizer building community.
The entrepreneur creating opportunities.
The educator changing children's lives.
The nonprofit leader solving a problem.
The artist creating culture.
The young person doing something extraordinary.
The volunteer who never asks for recognition.
Those people shape a city.
And their stories deserve somewhere to live.
Why I Care About Highlighting Black Excellence Too
One thing that matters to me is making sure the people we highlight reflect the actual community we live in.
That includes intentionally looking for African American leaders, entrepreneurs, creators and community builders whose stories deserve wider recognition.
Not because CP Time is limited to one community.
It isn't.
But representation matters.
People should be able to see leadership, creativity and success reflected in people who look like them and come from communities like theirs.
Sometimes visibility is encouragement.
Someone sees another person's story and thinks:
Maybe I can do that too.
That's impact.
CP Time Is Bigger Than a Podcast Segment
This is why I'm bringing these stories onto the Das Effect website too.
A podcast episode has a moment.
A social post has a moment.
But I want these stories to become searchable.
If someone searches a person's name, their organization, their work or community leadership in Daytona Beach, I want there to be another place documenting what they've contributed.
That's how local media becomes community history.
Who Should Be Featured?
I'm looking for people throughout Volusia County who are creating measurable or meaningful impact through:
Community serviceBusiness and entrepreneurshipEducationYouth developmentArts and cultureNonprofit leadershipHealth and wellnessReal estate and developmentFaith communitiesEventsMediaAdvocacyInnovationMentorship
And I'm especially interested in the person who hasn't gotten enough recognition yet.
Help Me Find Them
I can research all day.
But community knows community.
So I'm asking you.
Who should people know?
Who's doing something incredible in Daytona Beach?
Who should I know in Ormond Beach?
Who's making noise in New Smyrna Beach?
Who is changing things in DeLand?
Who's quietly doing the work in Port Orange?
Send me their name.
Tell me what they're doing.
Tell me why people need to know them.
Maybe they'll be the next CP Time Highlight.
Because if we're going to talk about community, we should also celebrate the people creating one.
Real people. Real stories. Real impact.
That's CP Time.
That's Das Effect Media.
Let's Branch.
NOMINATE A CP TIME HIGHLIGHT
Know someone in Volusia County doing work people deserve to know about?
Submit their name, organization, city, contact information and why they should be highlighted through the Das Effect website.
